Being gay in the USA
If you don't know by now then I feel sorry for you haha
I AM GAY, My name is LARRY THE FAIRY and I'm proud of it.
People always want to know "When/How did I know"
I'm gonna tackle the topic head on.
I was always a 'different' kid, I hated playing with the boys, I hated sports, I always wanted to be the pink power ranger, and I always had female friends instead of guys.
I would say the 1st time I said to myself "hey you are a gay man" was when I was 14 years old and I remember that I was excited to start 7th grade because I was gonna get to be in a school with older guys (in my school district middle school was 7-9th grade)
I even started telling my closest friends I was gay, that's when the name Larry The Fairy started, shortly after one of my female friends who knew I was gay asked me to be her boyfriend. You know they say "you can knock it 'til you try it" so I said yes. We dated for a while and did normal things that 14 year old couples did, went to the movies hung out after school etc. when I was 14 1/2 I met a guy online he was older and HE is who I lost my virginity to, a week later I lost my virginity to a girl just to prove to myself I wasn't gay. It didn't work, I continued to date her off and on until senior year of high school all the while having guys on the side which is not something I'm proud of.
I was so far in the closet in middle school and high school that I wore fubu and tried to be this masculine person, It was just a front when I was in high school 1999-2002 there were NO openly gay guys to my knowledge.
I got picked on all the time, I was pushed down the stairs, I've had gum put in my hair, I've had my car windows shot out, I've had a gun pulled on me twice and even got into one HUGE fight my freshmen year that got me expelled from that school district for 1 year. All because they thought I was gay, that's how every fight started. That fabulous 3 letter word "FAG" I heard that so much in school.
Finally the last day of my senior trip with my closest friends and girlfriend I came out to my friends AGAIN and this time for good. The next morning I had sex with my girlfriend 1 last time. That was 10 years ago and I haven't been intimate with a girl ever since.
Once we came back from our senior trip I came out to the rest of my friends and life seemed to be so much better, Instead of people saying "FAG, QUEER" they said "Larry The Fairy, whats up homie?!" life just seemed to be perfect.
When I was 19 I finally came out to my family, not really by choice but because I was having a HUGE with my mom, I left her this LONG nasty letter that ended with "oh and by the way, I'm gay so if you want to disown me please feel free" It didn't take long for word to spread throughout the rest of my family, surprisingly the 1st person to call and extend their support was my very straight very masculine uncle, that truly shocked me.
I avoided my mom's phone calls for several weeks after that because I was scared to hear what she had to say. When I finally picked up she said "son I love you, but did you mean gay as in happy or gay as in you like other men?" I laughed out loud and replied "I like other men mom" she then said "well, I support you no matter what, but please always wear protection and I know how you like to spend money so you'd better find a sugar daddy"
It was one of the last times I spoke to my mom before she passed away, and I'm so grateful I got to tell her before she died. Not surprisingly one of my biggest supporters was my grandma who when she found out said "DUH!" and she has been to gay bars with me and has really embraced who I am as a person. I love her and she is my best friend in the whole wide world.
I have had a pretty amazing life and I know for sure if I stayed in the closet I would be a miserable person, so I want to empower all of those who are scared to come out.
I love my life and everyone in it, we have all met for a reason and each and every single one of the people I have met have impacted my life and I hope I've done the same for them.

How I lost my mother
![]() |
June 1984 |
OK pAArty animals,
I am not really good at these things but I will give it a try…so here
is the life story of how Larry the Fairy came to be.
I was born June 16th, 1984 in Garland, Texas. Shortly after my family
moved to a single wide mobile home in Quinlan,Texas, I split my time
with my parents in Quinlan and my Grandmother in Jasper, Texas. My
childhood was anything but normal. My grandparents used me as their
designated driver, by age 14, I was taking them to the bar so they
could get wasted, and drive them home. I actually enjoyed it I love my grandparents.
Drinking must have been in our bloodlines, my father too was a bad
alcoholic. He drank 24/7 and has a remarkable 8 DUI's to his name. I
remember as a kid blowing into a breathalyzer so my dad could start the car and take us to school.
The brightest light in my life has always been my mother. She was
such an amazing person. When I was 9 she finally left my father, with
no support from anyone else in my family. They all felt “divorce was
wrong”, yet after 10 years of domestic abuse she finally had enough.
She waited for him to go to work one morning, as soon as he pulled out
of the neighborhood a U-Haul pulled up, and her friends loaded
everything into it. She left my dad 1 plate, 1 spoon, 1 cup, etc,
more than he ever deserved. I remember being so happy when she left
him, I would never have to stand up to him for her anymore.
My mom moved us to Allen, Texas when I was in the 5th grade. She
bought her very own house through HUD homes. She worked her ass off
to support my little brother and me, like most kids I never
appreciated what she was doing for us. My life suddenly seemed normal
for the first time. I was finally living in a real home, without
wheels, in the big city. I was able to make friends and have fun for
the first time in a really long time.
When I was 17, my mom and I had a huge fight, I was so horribly mean
to her. She finally had enough and kicked me out. I never went back
home, and I couch surfed for a couple of years until finally getting
my own place at 19 in Dallas. I haven’t left this city ever since.
Then it happened. On New Year’s Eve 2004, I had just finished up at
work and was excited to get home so I could get ready to go out for
the night. I was only 20 at the time, but I had just gotten a fake ID! I was so
excited to get out with my awesome friends. When the phone rang at
work, I picked it up which never happened because we weren’t allowed

to pick up the phone, but for whatever reason that night I did. It
was a previous employer who was trying to reach me. He said no one inmy family could get a hold of me and very serious and blunt he said,
“Larry, you need to call your dad, your mother is dead". I laughed
and said "you're funny", he said "I’m not playing she was killed today
on a motorcycle". My mom hated motorcycles so I knew he must be
joking, I hung up the phone and cried for a second, then pulled myself
together and called my dad. He picked up the phone and was crying;
I've never once seen or heard my dad cry before in my life. I knew
right away it was true, so I asked him point blank "Is my mother
dead?!" and he said "yes, son, I’m afraid she is". I dropped the
My mom hated motorcycles and I couldn’t believe that’s how she died, I
was in complete and total shock.
The plot thickened when we found out that she was in the process ofdivorcing her current husband and had just told him that day she
wanted a divorce. He was the one driving the motorcycle and witnesses
said they stopped at a church and were fighting in the parking lotthen my mom went in and came out a few minutes later. He then drove
it off and half a mile later witnesses said he just drove the
motorcycle off the road.
The impact killed him instantly, my mom died of brain injuries several
hours later at the hospital.
I have never recovered from this incident, and I am crying my eyes outThe impact killed him instantly, my mom died of brain injuries several
hours later at the hospital.
now as I type this.
A few months later right before my 21st birthday I got a check for
$200,000 from my mom’s life insurance and I went crazy! BuyingA few months later right before my 21st birthday I got a check for
everything I had ever wanted or desired.
I didn’t work and pretty much had the best time ever from the ages of
21-24. After all the money was gone I had to settle down and get a
job. Now I spend my days working and partying, still drinking away
all the pain I have in my heart, trying to be a motherly figure to all
my friends because I miss my mother so much.
I started writing this to let you all know about me, who I am, and
for that I am sorry.
But this is me, it is a part of who I am, and why I am the way I am.

All joking aside
This is no laughing matter HIV & AIDS are a serious issue that doesn't need to be taboo, It needs to be discussed openly so we can communicate and educate our youth coming into this crazy dating/sexual world. Education, Prevention, & Early detection are all we've got to battle this war.
